Jul 16th 2011 8:33AM I worked in a K-3 school building in Michigan that had a canine reading buddy. It was wonderful to see young children so excited about reading. Too bad adults can't take a lesson from these amazing non-judgmental dogs. For all those who are trashing our schools, why don't YOU volunteer to listen to children practice reading?

May 26th 2011 8:46PM That is without doubt the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I breast fed my son for 20 months. He started school at 4, was an honor student and a three sport varsity athlete. He is now 28 years old, a college grad with a great job. He has lived on his own for nine years. Now who is the loser?
May 6th 2011 4:12PM If you read the article carefully, you would know the backyard was FENCED. Good Lord you "modern" parents need to relax. My children played outside alone, ate dirt, dug up worms, caught frogs and fell off playground equipment. Guess what?? They survived all that abuse and are now college grads with gainful employment. The goal of parenting is to raise children who become independent adults who can survive and learn from their mistakes , how can you do that if you follow them around all day with hand sanitizer and solve all their problems for them?

Apr 11th 2011 10:00AM How about Niner or Quiring?
Apr 11th 2011 9:37AM I worked in an elementary school for 11 years . Some parents were obviously under the influence of something when they chose a name for their child. Parents, if you do choose an "unusual" name then don't get angry when no one else can pronounce or spell it. That's YOUR fault!

Jan 30th 2011 8:00PM We started teaching our children to think for themselves very young. Letting them choose their own clothes out of two or three appropriate outfits, packing for a trip by telling them to get a number of items their drawers. They were also responsible for household chores. During school, their jobs were to get good grades. We bought them cars and helped with those expenses, this kept us in control. If Dad's name is on the title, Dad controls the car. With three active kids it was worth it to have an extra driver. Since they are all productive, independent members of society, I guess we did something right.
Jan 16th 2011 10:40AM You mean the government taking over healthcare isn't going to make it free??? That's not what Barry the Anointed said!!! Anytime the government gets involved thing cost more. What kind of idiot signs a contract they haven't read? Oh yeah, our congress! How's that Hope and Change workin' for ya now?
