Queen Elizabeth II gave Prince William the title of Duke of Cambridge and Kate Middleton the title of Duchess of Cambridge before the bride and groom's ceremony on Friday.

In addition to the dukedom, William also became the Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus, which means Kate will become the Countess of Strathearn and Baroness Carrickfergus.

That makes three titles each for the royal couple.

According to The Telegraph, dukedom is the highest rank in the British peerage.

Unadulterated "TRIPE" and a waste of tens of million of dollars! Once, again that "Golden Rule" applies, as those with the GOLD, make the Rules!

It's about refinement, tradition and commitment - something that is sorely missing in today's culture. How refreshing to witness a beautiful, joyous ceremony absent sloppy half naked bodies tattoed, pierced or clothed in vulgar-phrased tee shirts. Most "weddings" seem to emphasize the party far more than the sacrament. When the British people no longer see the value in having a monarchy, Parliament will cease the funding. In the meantime, how much charity work do you do and/or in which branch of the service have you served?

We didn't get up until 3:30 AM PDT so only saw part of the wedding, but am glad that we recorded the whole Royal Wedding so we can watch the whole Royal Wedding tonight. What we have seen of it so far we thought it was fantastic. Some of the British Royal wedding customs date back hundreds of years, such as the newly weds waving to the crowds from the balcony of Buckingham Palace, that custom dates back when Queen Victoria and Prince Albert got married. While the first official kiss of the newly weds on the balcony of Buckingham Palace dates back only thirty year ago when Prince Charles and Princess Diana got married.

The royal hoopla is great, why not enjoy this, the world could use a fairy tale about right now with a Prince Charming and his Princess. Enjoy it! There's too much sorrow in the world, too much pain, too much reality. Let our little girls, silly woman, whatever enjoy if just for a day, a week, a month. We don't need to be cynical every second of everyday!

We love our British friends overseas and we always will...this whole king thing though means a lot more to them than it does to people here in the US...I think some people are upset because the press is playing this whole thing like it actually has some meaning to Americans... the press is just overplaying this whole royal wedding...let the Brits have their day...if it makes you crazy, turn off the TV and go for a walk! Better yet, go out and do something nice for someone today!

Naivete is blissful. Frankly, the reason that many of us are bored and annoyed with the entire "Royal" thing is because it is nothing more than a bloodline declaring itself sacred, which should be reserved for the ephemeral and not mere mortals. Royals must preserve the illusion at all costs, otherwise, they will be required to work for a living. And, that is what all this pomp an circumstance is about.
Fortunately, our founding fathers decreed that ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL and it is unlawful for titles of royalty to be bestowed upon America's citizens. Incidentally, had Hitler triumphed, his descendents would have been bestowed titles such as this from "Der Führer", himself.
Royal titles actually mean nothing in the real world, aside from the egotistical pleasure derived from same. That one human being must curtsy or bow and address another as "Your Royal Highness" is not only absurd, it's blasphemous. Not to mention VERY BAD KARMA. Simply said, it creeps normal people out. There is nothing wrong with anyone who considers this wedding as anything other than, as my dear mother would say, "The Grand Opening".

Stop the world! Royalty is getting married? They have "royal blood" flowing in their veins. Why royal? Well, because some distance ancestors kicked the crap out of the other families. So for generations they population of England gets to support the whole lot of them. These two need to get honest jobs. I am totally amazed that people make such a fuss over this stuff.

Watching this morning, seeing all the pomp & pageantry, the regal looking guests in attendance, I kept being reminded of Garrett Morris announcing "Lord & Lady Douch-e-bag" from the old Saturday Night Live skit.

Kate must have been really nervous. I dont know how many of you had your tv volume all the way up as I did, but if you did you heard it. About no less than 10 or 15 seconds into the vows, she ripped one bad. She passed gas, farted, I thought even sharted herself. I mean I seriously thought she shit that amazing gown. I had to look at her back on the way out of the Abbey. That had to be a moment.
