Pippa Middleton, Kate's younger sister and maid of honor, arrived at Westminster Abbey on Friday wearing a sleek ivory satin dress with a crepe cowl neckline by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen.

The look was a slightly risqué choice, given that bridesmaids don't usually wear white or ivory -- that's reserved for the bride.

Her dress also featured the same button detail and lace trim as Kate's Burton-designed wedding dress. The look was finished off with floral diamond earrings by jeweler Robinson Pelham and a headpiece made of lily of the valley blooms.

Had the writers of this article done a bit of research, they would have found that it is
Royal tradition that the maid of honor and the flower girls dresses match the bride, hence they all wore white. This was reiterated by Katie Couric this morning in her coverage of the event.

  • Koz

Hey Willie I think you made the wrong choice, Pippa is smoking.

  • jim

maybe willie will be like Henry VIII with the Bolyn girls......get'em both.

  • Edward

Yes she is.....seen pictures of her in short skirt on a bench and she has legs to die for.

  • K

Kate is much prettier than Pippa

  • Al Schrader

Is amazing how the bridesmaids are more attractive than the actual bride.

  • LInda

I think Harry should dump that Chealsie dame and go after Pippa....wouldn't that be a hoot?

  • Stevie Ray

She has a wierd name. But man she is hot!!

  • Suzanne

Pippa is a nickname. Her real name is Phillipa (sp?).

  • Rebekah

This article is mistaken. In the United States only the bride wears white. In England, the bridesmaids typically dress to match the bride. If Kate had worn blue, then her bridesmaids would have donned blue dresses as well. And yes, she is quite a beautiful young lady - the whole family is very attractive.

  • Pippa Schwarz

My name is Philippa as well, weird you say?No its NOT American that's all.Thank you very much.I love my name wayy more than if it was Rebecca or Jessica or Ashley!!!

  • PAL

Perhaps you should have researched this further before this article was written. Pippa looks beautiful. Bridesmaids in England are dressed to match the bride. In medieval times, it was thought that it would disguise the bride and therefore outwit malevolent spirits.

  • Wren

You are correct; it's a lazy journalist who doesn't know that it is common in England to match the bride and not the least risque.

  • Cheri

    Thank you!
I thought I was the only one who knew this. Was going to post that until I saw your post!

  • Dee

Why are we still ragging on this? The statement of bridesmaids wearing the same color as the bride was discussed numerous times on the coverage of the Royal Wedding. Again we prove we do not understand or respect the beliefs of other countries.

  • Brad

Pippa stole the show! Can you imagine her 5 years from now?!

  • Sunny

In England, it is not unusual for bridesmaids to wear white or ivory. They match the color of the bride's dress.

  • Tit4Tat

I agree, I think she looks (as the Brits say) smashing, that bridesmaid dress was simple elegance and look way better than the horrific dresses that most brides mades wear, think to two white dresses complement each other. Kate is confident in herself to worry about the spotlight being stolen from her.

  • dallas

    simple and elegant..says it all...

  • Carol

This is a boring dress and I would never, ever wear a dress like the brides even if Iwas in England. Bad choices on dresses for bride and maid of honor.
